High Frequency European Equites - London

Who are you ?

You love statistics, machine learning, game theory but also enjoy programming. That’s why you naturally gravitated toward high frequency trading. The opportunity to combine all of those technical skills whilst also understanding how the equity markets worked is still what motivates and excites you.

You are no longer the most junior person on the desk now though. You understand the market microstructure within European Equities and have developed signals that are now in live trading and are doing well.

However, your learning curve has flattened. You are providing more to the team than you get back and it’s unlikely your boss is going anywhere soon – you’ve hit a ceiling and are now in the comfort zone. Which is a nice place but is not providing the challenge you thrive on.

It’s time to think about moving on, you have a long non-compete which means you want to get this move right.

What have you done so far ?

  • Used advanced statistical analysis/data mining techniques to make short term forecast and develop profitable predictive trading models.
  • Applied your knowledge of European equities market microstructure to think creatively about trading opportunities and/or risks
  • Used your technical skills to help build tools on the desk either in Python or C++ but also have contributed to strategy implementation
  • Graduated with an MSc/PhD in s data intensive STEM subject

Why should I get in touch ?

If you’ve got this far, I’ll assume that you are ready to make a move, you’re just not sure what to do.

You will have heard of the client that I am working with. They do have similar, if not lower latency access to European equities. They also have exceptional data and people. The usual characteristics of a tier one HFT firm.

What they don’t have is dominance in European Equities. They are dominant in futures so if you’re background is in futures this is not the right role. They do however need to strengthen the bench in Equities and therein lies the opportunity. You can take all the knowledge and experience you have gained and take the next step in your career as a Team Lead or Sub team lead.

OK, I have a few questions, how do I get in touch ?

You can book a quick call using the link below if you have any questions or alternatively you can send me an email at s.grainger@gslsearch.com
