Software Engineer - building a research platform from scratch - Chicago
Software Engineer - building a research platform from scratch
What's involved ?
You will be working alongside really smart and productive quantitative researchers that are developing sophisticated alpha signals across vast sets of data. The team is new, fresh and really driven to succeed. You will be a key component of their success. You will build the tools and engines that bring novel research ideas to fruition. It's a greenfield project for you to architect and engineer a research platform with no legacy technologies or work arounds. If that doesn't excite you are clearly on the wrong page.
Who are you ?
You will have studied computer science or EE or possibly another STEM subject and be passionate about writing clean, professional code. You will love to look at a business process and/or objective and find the right technical solution. You will be able to show real examples of delivering projects that require high computational efficiency. You know Amdahl and Gustafson and think it's more of a challenge than a law.
You have to be diligent, although in order to deliver the right solution that just comes naturally, right.
You can program in c++ and python... really well.... oh and you should believe in iterative development.
You need to have good maths, not a quant, but this role is working with quant researchers to build their research platform so you need to be able to get it. This experience could have come from working within a model driven hedge fund or another industry that relies on computationally efficient platforms.
Why me ?
Why not ? Seriously. You need to be an exceptional engineer and excited about building something from scratch but I'm guessing you wouldn't have got this far if you weren't at least a bit intrigued. They are based in Chicago but are open to remote working in the short term (with a few state based caveats).
I have a few questions, how do I get in touch ?
