Who are you?

Having graduated you decided to use those technical skills you learned in the real world. It's been over two years now and you can safely say your Python has moved from academic to production quality. You've worked with structured and unstructured data formats, and can navigate SQL and relation databases with ease. If there is a new data pipeline, you are the one that makes it happen. 

 

Yep, that does sound like me. And ? 

An early stage quant fund (established in 2019) is going through their next stage of growth. Start up phase is over and as they mature, data engineering is central to that growth.   

 

As a Data Engineer, either in Chicago or New York, you will work be working with a great team of quantitative researchers and software engineers. As the are expanding, both in investment universe and regions, they are onboarding lots of new data sources. It will be your job to manage this really important process and ensure data can be then be translated into signals suitable for machine learning.

 

You will be the face of the firm when dealing with data vendors to understand the schemas, implement in the research environment and manage the ongoing data stream.  You will also be responsible for organising and managing the data catalogue. Good thing you're a Python whizz and can automate a lot of these processes.
